Fats (Fathima Hajee) - South African born and raised, living in the UAE for the last 10 years. I am an architect by degree, a retail specialist by profession and an artist by heart. 

Islamic and Mixed Media, especially textured arts, are my passion.

Textures add depth, visual interest, and a tactile quality to art, inviting viewers to engage both visually and physically with the piece. They can evoke emotions, convey narratives, and enhance the overall sensory experience, making each viewing a unique exploration of form and surface.

I use a mix of materials including texture pastes, acrylic paints, clay, resin, strings and foils to create layers of texture and depth. Rough textures juxtaposed against smoother surfaces, surface interest designs and colours all blend together until I achieve the final desired balance of my finished pieces.

While my focus is on Islamic art, and creating spiritual pieces that convey the beauty of Islam through colour and calligraphy, I do also explore more contemporary designs that appeal to most collectors.
